Theatrical Performance

Showering up, make the hair curl correctly
Growing it out once again, throw the glasses on with tints
Lay the suit out, nice and easy
Looking so breezy, but she isn't here to lace my tie up --
That took 15 minutes to get right, that bullshit was the death of me
Look at myself in the mirror, damn I've grown -- throwing on one necklace
From when kids around the way were talking ho shit;
I just wanted them to leave me alone, they didn't respect it
Walking out of the apartment, damn I can't wait to see her reaction
Strutting in my class action -- showing off my latest fashion
Checking my pockets, throwing on my reading glasses
Looking SO nasty, like I'm walking to take some more money out the elastic
Driving to the place, ready for the show
I'm your number one fan, made sure my ticket seated me center in the first row
Waiting to see you blow up off your performance, maybe I'll get a backstage pass
And I won't ever have to go home
So she steps out after the precession, singing her heart out
Miss Saigon type woman, "How in one night have we come so far?"
Non-sell herself type but she'll be MINE
You certainly blind-sided me as well, love
Leaving on the edge of my seat, you're always on my mind to dwell, love
I must say, after the play -- she got a standing ovation
The next night I would be here for her again, waiting

Too bad she was in town for one night only.

So I walk home with my head in abrasion
Hating how the show had to end so abruptly
Hurrying back so I can release this frustration on the paper --
My pencil would be touching... I just want her to love me like I love her voice
Coming to terms with the fact I'll never see her again in my vicinity
I hate how my fucking surroundings desire to limit me
Goddamn, you're kidding me -- so I walk up the steps and pull out my keys
Open the door with preciseness, loosen my tie
Unbutton my shirt; there's a woman sitting on my couch watching a documentary
Damn it was strange, I couldn't find the words to say
It was her, telling me she noticed I was there to see her
And that she's always going to stay
At least until the sunrises tomorrow; "How in one night have we come so far?"
I want her to have me & my last name

Baby, you can stay as long as you like -- you have my heart
Don't ever leave my sight, you always brighten my days.
